PERSONNEL
BOARD OF DIRECTORS: The
school is governed by a Board of Directors. Those presently serving
are: Gordon Methvin, Chairman; Denny Smitherman, Vice-Chairman; J. H. Blackman, Jr., Secretary; Greg
Littleton, Treasurer; Steve Atnip, Glenn Burgess, Gene Burgett, Maurice Davis,
George K. French, Scott Gerhardt, Brian Kenyon, E. Robert McAnally,
Jackie Stearsman, and Ted Wheeler.
THE FACULTY:
Stephen C. Atnip earned a BA and an MA from Southern Christian
University, and also graduated from the Bear Valley School of
Biblical Studies. He has served as Principal, Black Creek Christian
School and is the current preacher for the Black Creek church
of Christ in Middleburg, FL. He serves on the Florida School
of Preaching Board of Directors. He teaches Bible and Bible related
subjects.
Bob Bauer attended both the University of Cincinnati and the
Florida School of Preaching. He has preached for congregations
in Florida beginning in1990 and is currently working with the
Orange Street congregation in Auburndale, FL. He has been involved
in mission campaigns to Ghana, West Africa since 1990 and has
also done radio work. He currently writes a religious column
for the Auburndale Sun. He teaches Bible and Bible related
subjects.
J. H. Blackman, Jr. earned an AA from Florida Christian College
and a BA from David Lipscomb College (1955). He has been a
Gospel preacher since 1949, having preached in Georgia, North
Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, Germany, and Panama.
He has been active in radio, television, lectureships, and
gospel meetings. He has preached for the North Lakeland church
of Christ since 1991. He has been with the Florida School of
Preaching from its beginning in 1969, serving as the school’s
only Secretary of the Board. He teaches Bible and Bible related
subjects.
Gene Burgett, Director of Public Relations, is a 1985 graduate
of the Florida School of Preaching. He earned an AA from Palm
Beach Junior College, a BA from American Christian Bible College
(1998), and an MA from American Christian School of Religion
(2000). He preached for the High Springs congregation for fourteen
years where he also conducted a weekly radio program and published
a bi-monthly periodical. He teaches Bible and Bible related
subjects.
James S. Colwell is a graduate of East Tennessee School of Preaching,
Knoxville, TN (1996). He served as the preacher for the Mt.
Pleasant church of Christ, Valdosta, GA and is now the preacher
at the Wesconnett church of Christ, Jacksonville, FL. He has
worked on campaigns for a number of years in Panama and Costa
Rica and has participated in gospel campaigns in Tennessee,
Kentucky, and Georgia. He teaches Bible and Bible related subjects.
Maurice Davis is a graduate of the Florida School of Preaching.
He earned an AA from Hillsborough Community College and a BA
from American Christian Bible College. He has been preaching
since 1965. He is presently preaching at Sixth Street church
of Christ, Lakeland, FL and serves on the Board of Directors.
He teaches Bible and Bible related subjects.
Michael Elledge is a 1995 graduate of the Florida
School of Preaching and previously attended Central Michigan
University. He has also studied
Sociology and English at Manatee Community College. From 1995 until
2001, he preached and conducted Gospel meetings and radio programs
while working with the
church in Alachua, Florida and then at the Midway church
of Christ in Sarasota, Florida from 2001 to 2004. During 2004, he returned
to the Alachua congregation as associate minister and youth director.
He teaches Bible and Bible-related subjects.
Brian Kenyon, Associate Director, is a graduate of the Florida
School of Preaching (1991). He earned an AS in Underwater Technology
from Florida Institute and Technology (1984) and from Freed-Hardeman
University a BA in Bible and Philosophy (1993), and an MA in
New Testament (1995). He has worked with churches in Louisiana,
Tennessee, and Florida. He has worked on campaigns in Scotland
and Jamaica. He teaches Bible, Greek, and Bible-related subjects.
Jackie M. Stearsman, Director, earned an AA from Freed-Hardeman
College, a BA from David Lipscomb College, and an MA from Harding
Graduate School of Religion in doctrinal field with additional
study in Hebrew, counseling, and Christian evidences. He taught
Greek at Michigan Christian College. He began preaching in
1961. He teaches Bible, Greek and Bible related subjects.
Gene E. Stilwell is a graduate of East Tennessee School of Preaching
and Missions. He attended Western Illinois University and Freed-Hardeman
College. He has preached since 1975. He taught Bible at Virginia
School of Biblical Studies and is presently preaching for the
church of Christ on Watson Blvd., Warner Robins, GA. He teaches
Bible and Bible related subjects.
Ted Wheeler is a graduate from the Florida School of Preaching
(1984). Following graduation, he and his family worked with
the church in Ghana, West Africa, for five years, building
up existing congregations and establishing new ones in rural
areas. He taught in the National Bible Institute, a preacher
training school, in Accra. He has preached for the church of
Christ in Venice since 1989, for whom he also serves as an
elder. He continues to conduct annual campaigns to Ghana. He
teaches Missions, Bible, and Bible related subjects.
OFFICE STAFF: The school could not function as well as it does
without the committed, skillful, and reliable ladies who diligently
work “behind the scenes.” bettye bolding serves
as the school’s secretary and Kathy Strickland serves
as the book keeper. Dotty Gutzler willingly assists in times
of special need.
